The Spilled Coffee (Poem)

In all of our lives, it will happen at least once,
The stunned second before realization,
The sensation beginning to register,
The heat meeting the body and deciding to last.

Our next reaction is crucial
Amidst the disappointment or anger,
The liquid reminding us that whatever we feel,
We must act quickly.

A microcosm of life itself in an upturned container,
A messy lesson we would rather not learn.
To complain and curse is fine and natural,
But the drink is now wasted, and must be cleaned regardless.
