The Drone (Poem)

It has helped to change everything,
The way you internalize the world.
The way I contemplate my existence.
The way we see each other, now with blurred and colorless vision.

Vices have destroyed us for as long as we have been us
And yet, it is our penchant for tampering
With what we do not understand
That has led us to this, the holder of our secrets.

I imagine the birds look with suspicion
At the intruding impostor in their midst,
Along with the soaring plane,
Now joining the crowd in the wary sky.

-D.
